Stairstep is a singer, musician, beatmaker and Portuguese producer based in Bristol, United Kingdom.Miguel F. Esteves, name on ID card, was born in Lisbon and spent most of his youth in Mafra, a town on the outskirts of the Portuguese capital. In 2014, moved to England, United Kingdom, to study music production and to pursue his music quest.
The creation of an epic sound of analogue and digital instrumentation in an urban backdrop defines Stairstep. His first connection with an instrument was through the classical guitar, but the electric bass quickly took over as his favourite, and after several sound experiments and influences, Stairstep found his own voice. By mixing Hip Hop, Trip-Hop and House music drums, groovy bass guitar lines, orchestral melodies/harmonies, sampling techniques applied on a cinematographic experience or cutesy K-Pop universe, along with the melodic vocals and energetic message found on Alternative Metal acts such as and Tool, Stairstep seeks to reuse and re-invent endless musical ideas for the purpose of leading the listener to new sound experiences.
